How Do You Defeat Anxiety Forever?
BAD NEWS: You can't. GOOD NEWS: You ABSOLUTELY CAN overcome it.
I’ve helped a lot of people overcome anxiety.
One of the common themes I hear:
“How do I fight anxiety?”
Here’s what I tell people…
Sorry to be blunt, but you can’t FIGHT anxiety.
Well, technically, you can — but you won’t win that battle.
Don't fight your anxiety.
ACCEPT it.
The more you worry about WHY you're getting stressed or anxious, the harder it gets.
The more you try to defeat it, the more it’ll take over you.
And many people feel worthless after they get defeated by anxiety — they start thinking they’re NOT good enough, which opens a can of worms, leading to other issues.
See the chain reaction?
Anxiety IS NOTHING BUT the result of your own IMAGINARY THOUGHTS.
Your imaginary thoughts at some level lead you to BELIEVE that something bad is about to happen, or something will go against your plan.
It can also lead to self-doubts on whether you’ll be able to live up to others’ expectations - your imaginary thoughts NEGATIVELY INFLUENCE your BELIEFS about yourself.
It's different for different people.
But at a deeper level, you get anxious because you genuinely and deeply CARE about yourself, something or someone — and your mind starts throwing hurdles at you that you’re not able to keep up with.
You end up sincerely answering all the ILLUSORY WHAT-IFs presented by your mind…
What if I fail?
What will they think of me?
What if this happens?
What if that happens?
And you get caught up in a web of SELF-CREATED UNSOLVABLE PUZZLES.
It’s like a devil’s workshop — you start fighting with your mind. The more demons you slay, the more they pop out of nowhere.
The more you FEED your belief, for instance, that you're not going to do well or something bad is about to happen, the more it becomes a living reality for you.
You're not alone. Most of humanity goes through this hell.
But I want you to see that YOUR MIND is cooking up a HORROR STORY you don't seem to enjoy — and you’re NOT conscious of it.
None of those dreadful situations that you're imagining actually exist in your present reality. Sorry to disappoint you — they don’t.
It lives ONLY in your mind.
But the more attention you give to those imaginary situations, the more you're letting it influence and affect you in your physical reality.
You have to tell yourself a different story.
The default nature of our human minds is, it'll either re-live a traumatic past, or excessively worry about an imaginary future.
I call it the caveman/woman instinct. We've evolved past that. But we still have the memory of our evolutionary instincts.
The key is in UNDERSTANDING and BEING AWARE about the nature of the mind.
Mind is like an untrained dog, fully unleashed.
It’s not a train-it-once-and-forget-it deal. You’ll have to keep training it EVERYDAY for it to function the way YOU WANT IT TO.
If you’re not CONSCIOUS ENOUGH of your thoughts, mind can easily revert back to its default state and cause havoc.
If you train your mind to keep quiet, your natural state will shine forth — INNER PEACE.
One of the biggest enemies of anxiety is not being in the present moment - there's NO ANXIETY in the NOW.
Anxiety ALWAYS has a trigger, and you’ll be able to observe it if you’re CONSCIOUS ENOUGH.
The trigger is either from your memory of a dreadful past or an imaginary future.
Anxiety lives ONLY in our minds - I want you to CLEARLY see this.
Don't give it too much significance.
Every time you feel anxious, bring your FOCUS back to THE PRESENT MOMENT by doing ANYTHING that keeps you anchored in the present.
This is how you consciously SHIFT your energy from ANXIETY to PEACE and CALM.
Don't sit on the backseat and let your mind drive your life.
Do the opposite — you be the driver. ✨
