One Last Time
Let's make it count.
Some memories in your life remain forever.
They donāt fade even after many years.
You might be able to recall the exact days, dates, and perhaps even an approximate time of the day.
Like your anniversaries, graduation day, some memorable birthday, etc.
But there are other days you wonāt be able to put a finger on and tell when or how many times it happened, but itād certainly leave a lasting impact.
Such days are more subtleā¦

You might only have a ācumulative feelingā if you try and recall them, but you wonāt be able to tell when exactly it happenedā¦
ā¦especially how wonderful someone made you feel.
One such wonderful person was my dear uncle, my dadās youngest brother, whoās not with us anymore.
I recall some of the most joyful days of my childhood I spent with him, which I hold close to my heart to this day.
Iād simply light up in his presence ā not many adults back then could do that.
He lived a phenomenal life ā like there was no tomorrow.
While Iām still trying to come to terms with his recent passing, it has made me realize what we take for granted in our lives ā our mortality.
There are some wonderful days in your life you wouldnāt be able to pinpoint and say this was when it happened, but it could very well have been the ālast timeā youād have experienced it.
You wouldnāt have known then that it was the last time.
But in retrospect, youād realize it, and it would have had a profound impact on youā¦
ā¦but you wouldnāt be exactly sure when.
The ālast timeā you held your children in your arms before they āgrew upā ā when was the exact day they grew up?
The ālast timeā you dropped your kids off at school or karate class?
The ālast timeā you left your most favourite place for good ā did you know back then youāre never going back to that place again?
The ālast timeā you had coffee with a favourite person.
The ālast timeā you hugged your mom or dad.
Be it an acquaintance, someone you know, or love ā the ālast timeā you met, spoke, or spent time with them ā if theyāre not alive today, would you have known back then that youād never see them again?
The moment weāre born, the clock is ticking, and weāre all heading towards our graves.
But we take our lives so much for granted.
Weāre more busy making a living than actually living it.
When we run out of time, the last (and the ONLY) thing we will probably hold on to is our good memoriesā¦
And Iām not sure weāre doing enough to fill our days with great memories?
Letās make that phone call or do the video chat weāve been putting off forever.
Letās make that ādream tripā happen.
Letās try and be āintensely presentā, no matter who we meetā¦
More so with our loved ones ā giving them our 100% attention, being with them like thereās no tomorrow.
Because one day, there wonāt be a tomorrow ā either for you or for them.
It could be the ālast timeā weād be speaking to someone ā we wonāt know it then.
I donāt recall the ālast timeā I told my uncle how much I loved him, how much he mattered to me, and how big a role he played in the context of my joyful childhood.
Iām not sure Iāll have another chance to let him know how much I miss him.
We might not always get another chance for that āone last timeā.
Letās make every moment of our interaction with others count.
