You're Watching Bad Movies All The Time

I’ve a situational question for you.
Let’s say you have two external hard drives - exactly the same size, make, and model.
Both have a crazy amount of storage.
Both are loaded with tons of movies.
One hard drive has only the best movies.
The other one has absolutely lousy, disgusting, and so-so movies.
Here’s the catch:
You have just ONE cable to connect the hard drives to your laptop…
…and it’s movie time!
You can connect only ONE of the hard drives to your laptop at any given time.
Which hard drive would you choose to connect?
The one with all the cr**py movies?
Or, the one that has the good ones?
Which hard drive would you power-on?
No, seriously - what kind of movies would you watch if you had a CHOICE?
The good ones, or the bad ones?
Personally, the good ones would be my NATURAL choice…
…unless, of course, if I’m in the mood to watch and critique the bad movies for FUN, which I do a lot anyway!
If I ENJOY doing it, that’s a different story.
But otherwise, what’d be YOUR default CHOICE?
If you haven’t already guessed where I’m going with this…
Human brains are like storage devices, but just infinitely more capable.
You already know our brains can retain ENORMOUS amounts of data, and it can be recalled at anytime.
Whether or not you’re conscious of it, our brains literally store EVERYTHING - good, bad, and the ugly.
At any given time, we have a CHOICE - we can either recall the good memories or the bad ones from our past.
We have the ABILITY to DECIDE which ones to “power-on”.
It’s really that simple.
But instead, what do we do?
We CHOOSE to re-watch the dramas, failures, conflicts, quarrels, heartbreaks, and every other nasty incident from our past.
To make matters worse, we also RE-LIVE those experiences in the present day.
Something nasty happened 20 years ago - what significance does it have today?
Why do we still keep brooding over it?
What happened 20 years ago is NOT TRUE in our present day reality - the nasty experiences exist ONLY IN OUR THOUGHTS.
You see, WHAT YOU THINK directly impacts HOW YOU FEEL.
Although the disturbing incidents happened in the past…
…every time you recall it, it AFFECTS HOW YOU FEEL IN THAT MOMENT.
THOUGHTS = FEELINGS/EMOTIONS
They’re directly connected.
You’re unconsciously inviting STRESS and ANXIETY every time you recall and re-live disturbing thoughts from your past.
Why do you still keep “powering-on” those painful memories?
Here’s an EMPOWERING insight for you:
At any given time, YOU can make a CHOICE.
YOU have the ABILITY to DECIDE which thoughts you want to ENTERTAIN - the pleasant ones, or the uncomfortable ones.
YOU have the POWER to DECIDE which ones to KEEP, and which ones to IGNORE (sorry, there’s no DELETE option - that’s not how the brain works).
My question to you is:
Which thoughts would you wish to CHERISH and which ones would you IGNORE?
Remember, YOU have the CONTROL on which ones to “power-on”.
Make a WISE decision EVERY MOMENT. ✨
